The Animal Sanctuary, Wilmslow
Humane Education Society, Newgate, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5LN
The Animal Sanctuary, Wilmslow is run by the Humane Education Society. The Charity was founded in 1927 originally rescuing pit ponies from Lancashire mines. Nowadays we care for a multitude of animals from cats and rabbits to ferrets, pigs, hens, donkeys, horses and many others. Those that come to the Sanctuary are often unwanted, abandoned, or homeless through no fault of their own. Whilst the majority of the animals are found new homes as part of our active rehoming programme, many live at the Sanctuary for the remainder of their lives due to being elderly or too unwell to be rehomed. For those that become permanent residents, we are their only hope.
It is the tireless support and dedication of our staff and volunteers, who generously give up their time, that ensures the animals have the appropriate security and care they otherwise would not receive. If you’re looking to rehome an animal or would like to learn more about life at the sanctuary please visit us between 11am-4pm everyday except Thursdays or call our office on 01625 520 802.
