Based in the UK, Calm Beverages Ltd. is new to the food and drink industry. Our fresh faced approach, has allowed us to dynamically create a range of drinks, without any of the restrictions of working with a PLC. The drinks industry up until now has been stale, its, full of large players, dominating the market with unhealthy fizzy drinks, that are full of sugar or unhealthy chemical sweeteners. We have set out to change this, giving you a range of drinks that taste great and make you feel great.

Calm Drinks range includes two cold brew coffees, an americano (18 calories) and a caffe latte (55 calories) using oat milk, ensuring their products are vegan and low calorie. They also produce a collection of sparkling waters, Lemon and Lime, Mixed Berry and their newest release, an orange flavoured multi-vitamin drink aimed at ensuring you get all the essential vitamins and minerals to protect your immune system.

For those who prefer a hot drink, they also have CBD infused ground coffee, Nespresso compatible pods and luxurious Belgian hot chocolate.

CBD is short for Cannabidiol, which is one of the many Cannabinoids present in the Cannabis plant…phew what a mouthful! However unlike its more famous and controversial brother THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t get you high or have a negative effect on your brain function….so you can quite happily have a couple of our drinks, without worrying about driving, walking or even doing that game where you try not walk on the cracks on the pavement.
So how does CBD work? Well…. humans have Cannabinoid receptors throughout their body, which form part of the endocannabinoid system, which control our appetite, pain-sensation, mood and memory. So essentially when CBD is consumed it interacts with these receptors.

CBD is commonly taken by people with anxiety, for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, and those who experience inflammation or chronic pain and it’s this that has seen sales of it rise in the UK to higher than Vitamin C and Vitamin D combined.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says “CBD is safe and well tolerated in humans” and that “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential” and “There is also preliminary evidence that CBD may be a useful treatment for a number of other medical conditions”
Professor Jose Alexandra Crippa of the Sao Paulo University conducted research into CBD and found “At high concentrations, CBD directly activates the serotonin receptor, thereby conferring an anti-anxiety effect.”
